Mr Ryan Botha – BA Ed (HMS)

Ryan lived and worked in London for 8 years where he setup a recruitment business, 1st Contact, facilitating the placement of professionals into the UK from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Within the same company he helped launch a payroll factoring business to support 1st Contact’s cash flow and that of other recruitment businesses in the UK. He returned to South Africa in 2005 and helped start RF, fulfilling the sales function within the company. He later progressed to Managing Director and CEO. 

 Ryan’s strength lies in Sales, Marketing and Business Development and he returned to this focus area in March 2010. Through his involvement in RF, Ryan has garnered extensive knowledge of the SA SME market and prior to TFS’s involvement in RF, was the principal driver of RF’s products focus on SA SMEs.


Ms Adri Bothma – BA (Law), LLB

Adri is a practicing attorney that has her own legal practice based in Durban. She specialises in debt counselling and its integrates, but also has an array of experience in corporate law and jurisprudence.
Adri initially consulted for TCA’s client, RF, but joined TCA in 2011 as the Head of Legal Services.

Mr DH (Daan) van der Merwe – BA (Law), BA Hons (Employment Relations Management), Post Grad Dip (Business Ethics)

Daan has obtained significant experience in the Life Insurance Industry, Southern African Medical Schemes Industry and broader healthcare industry, and has garnered an array of managerial, legal, corporate governance and fiduciary knowledge and expertise over a period of 15 years.

Daan was, until May 2009, the Principal Officer of Resolution Health Medical Scheme (RHMS) in South Africa, a medical scheme primarily focused on the blue collar and small business owner market with a base of 100,000 beneficiaries and an annual turnover of ZAR600 million, which he successfully managed for a number of years.

During his 8 year tenure with RHMS, Daan was involved in in-depth statutory, commercial and healthcare related work and has garnered extensive experience and knowledge of both public and private healthcare management, financing and small business market. 

Daan joined TFS in June 2009 and has been key in structuring and driving the processes of TFS’ and SFHL’s rollout in SSA. Through the research conducted by TFS in the SSA SME market, Daan has garnered extensive knowledge of SMEs, their needs and financial products focused specifically on the needs of SMEs.

Daan is an avid business ethicist and is strongly committed to ethical decision making and advancing ethical business practices.

Technical Advisor and Consultant: Michael Woollands

Michael has  thirty years Banking and Factoring experience. His  skills and achievements  included leading and developing teams,  creating  and presenting innovative training workshops , especially in the field of leadership  and  the management of debtors. Twenty three years service was with the Standard Bank in various credit and sales positions as well as managing a commercial branch in Johannesburg.
Michael has a passion for developing SME’s in particular looking for ways at improving their access to finance.

Michael completed a Management Development Programme at Unisa in 1999.
